Grammy-award-winning, Tony Award nominated and Metropolitan Opera Star, Garrett Sorenson and Metropolitan Opera Competition Grand Winner, Elizabeth Batton Sorenson are Louisville's premiere voice teachers. They excel at tailoring their technique to individuals, regardless of their chosen singing style, age, or level of experience. They believe in positivity, open communication, and results-based teaching.
Their active international careers give you access to the professional music world outside of Louisville, and they will use every contact appropriate, from opera to Broadway, to help students connect to the auditions and the support they need to begin their careers or artistic endeavors.
In the past year, students within their studio have prepared for and accomplished:
- The top winner of the University of Kentucky Vocal Competition
- The top winner of the Bellarmine Negro Spirituals Competition

- The top winner of the Altech Competition
- Winning the prestigious Fund for the Arts Whittenberg Scholarship
- Admission into Governor’s School for The Arts Vocal Program
- Full talent scholarships and tuition to various college vocal programs, including CCM
- Washington National Opera Institute (admission and full scholarship)
- Admission into the Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS) Vocal Program
- First-time/professional/leading with Center Stage (MainStage).
- Being awarded a Premier Young Artist as an incoming freshman for Indiana University.
- Have received their Equity cards for the first time.
- Students have received millions of dollars in talent scholarships to music schools.
